On the anniversary of Giacomo Puccini’s death, ICAMus continues to investigate the composer’s relationship with the United States and recalls its past events on “La Fanciulla del West”.11/29/2011. ICAMus marks the anniversary of Puccini’s death (29 November 1924) with the Organization’s ongoing exploration of new sources and topics, particularly related to "La Fanciulla del West". ICAMus has been investigating for years the international range of inspiration, influence and contacts of the Tuscan composer. Today we celebrate his relationship to the United States and American music through our recent discovery and publication of correspondence: Puccini, the United States and the Years of “La Fanciulla”: Previously Unpublished Correspondence of Giacomo Puccini to George Maxwell; With a Letter to Carlo Clausetti. Discovered by Aloma Bardi at the Library of Congress; Published and Annotated, With a Foreword, by Barbara Boganini.
On this occasion, we also call to remembrance the past Puccini ICAMus events by Barbara Boganini over the last 2 years, since 28 November 2009, as sequential chapters of our continuing project. Please find our Puccini contents in the Web site: Lecture Bologna, 28 November 2009; Presentation at Doctoral Seminar University of Florence, 23 April 2010; Radio Programs, November-December 2010; Palermo Conference Paper, 10 December 2010.
