The Florence project, American Art Song: Poets and Composers from the United States, directed by Aloma Bardi and Nicole Panizza, is a collaboration of ICAMus with the Lyceum Club Internazionale Firenze and The University of Florence. The opening event will take place May 18, 2020 in Florence, Palazzo Adami Lami, home to the Lyceum.

September 26. In celebration of George Gershwin, beloved American composer, on his birthday, we displayed his newly published, masterful biography by Richard Crawford, Summertime: George Gershwin’s Life in Music. We also displayed on this special occasion all of Crawford's books, which illuminate American music, and revisited the numerous Gershwin events of the Center over the years.
American composer, Jerome Margolis has donated numerous music scores and recordings of his works to the ICAMus Archive and Special Collections. Dr. Margolis is the composer of more than 200 works in almost every medium including orchestra, chamber ensemble, electronic, mixed media, piano, ballet, jazz and music-theater. The items of the Margolis Collection are on display at The ICAMus Studio; they are accessible for study and research.

A pianist and scholar, Dr. Panizza is an acclaimed UK-based vocal accompanist and coach. She is an expert on American Art Songs. We will be working with her on a new ongoing project devoted to American poets set to music by American composers (concerts, presentations, readings).

Italian musicologist and new ICAMus collaborator, Dr. Roberta De Piccoli, has been successfully interviewing, filming, researching in Canada, for the paper-video presentation, Transmission and transformation: An ethnomusicological study of the Italian-Canadian community of Toronto. The results of her research will be shared in Florence, Italy, in May.
